August 12, 2010- The German Car major, Volkswagen has announced the price for all the variants of Volkswagen Vento in India today. The new sedan will be available from 6th Sepetember 2010, according the company. The much-awaited car has 5 variants in total viz., diesel Trendline & Highline, petrol Trendline & Highline MT and AT. The company has priced the Volkswagen Vento between Rs 6.99 to 9.23 lakh.

Volkswagen VentoVolkswagen, the German Car maker is back with a bang, with the all new Volkswagen Vento. Volkswagen Vento is designed to give direct competition to the market leader Honda City. The new executive sedan will hit the Indian roads in September this year, according to the company official. Honda has dominated the mid size premium sedan segment in India for a long time now but with the launch of Volkswagen Vento, the race to take the number one spot in terms of market share will now begin between the two Automotive giants.

The car is manufactured at Volkswagen's new factory at Chakan in Pune. This facility is used in the production of Volkswagen Polo, Skoda Fabia and Volkswagen Vento. The company has plans to sell around 25000 units every year once the production starts with full swing.

Volkswagen Vento is expected to be positioned in the premium category car, same as Volkswagen Polo which is in line with a higher brand value of the company. The company will follow the same strategy for Volkswagen Vento as it does with Volkswagen Polo.

The added advantage that the all new Volkswagen Vento has in comparison to its competitor Honda City is that the former will be available in both petrol and diesel version unlike the latter which is available only in petrol version. The all new Volkswagen Vento comes with the same engine as is available in Volkswagen Polo i.e. 1.6 L petrol and diesel engines. While the petrol engine is able to produce a torque of 105 PS, the diesel engine generates a thumping torque of 250 NM. Volkswagen Vento is introduced in India with manual and automatic transmission. The petrol version is equipped with a 5 speed and 6 speed automatic gearbox with triptronic while the diesel variant comes with only 5 speed manual gearbox.

Mileage, Average and Fuel Economy

The all new Volkswagen Vento comes in both Petrol and Diesel engine. The all new Vento is packed with the same engine as Volkswagen Polo. The car has a 1.6 L engine. The new Volkswagen Vento is equipped with both 5 speed manual transmission and a 6 speed automatic gearbox (in the petrol version) and 5 speed manual gearbox (diesel version) for smooth changes and easy shifting of gears. The engine has a DOHC Valve configuration with 4 valves per cylinder that results in a dynamic performance.

The new Volkswagen Vento promises to offer smoother and faster gear shifts and acceleration in both manual transmission/automatic mode. This engine is claimed to offer a mileage of 11.2 kmpl in the city and 15.83 kmpl on the highway while the AT version gives a mileage of 14.4 kmpl. The diesel variant of the car delivers 20.54 kmpl mileage on highway and 15.8 kmpl in city.


Power

Volkswagen Vento is unveiled in both petrol and diesel engine. Both the engines are powered by a 1.6 liter DOHC in-line type engine. This In-line type engine with 4 Valves per cylinder offers greater torque and clear emission. Volkswagen Vento is mated with a 5 Speed Manual and 6 speed automatic gearbox with triptronic (in the petrol version) for easy shifting of gears. The engine will provide smoother and faster gear changes with both manual and automatic gearbox. This engine offers idling speed to be lowered without compromising on its high-speed performance. The highly powerful engine of Volkswagen Vento lays out an impressive power of 105 bhp at 5250 rpm and a thumping torque of 153 Nm at 3800 rpm for the petrol engine and 250 Nm at 1500-2500 rpm for the diesel engine.

The Volkswagen Vento Trendline variant comes in two exciting colours i.e. candy white and flash red, both being the most sought after colours in the auto world. Manual transmission offers greater mileage and acceleration than the automatic transmission.
