December 8, 2010 - BMW, one of the leading luxury car maker in the world launched today the all new BMW 5 Series 520d in India. The 5 series from BMW is an important model from the company's portfolio. BMW claims the new model to set standard for all diesel sedans( four cyliners) by merging unmatched fuel efficiency and outstanding performance. The new model from BMW offers a mileage of 18.4 kmpl (as derived by ARAI) which has been made achievable through efficient dynamics. The engine in BMW 520d churns a maximum output of 184 hp and a top torque of 380 Nm at 1750 rpm. This new beauty goes from nil to 100 kmph in just 8.1 seconds and achieves the top speed of 225 km/h. The model comes as a CKD unit to be manufactured at the company's facility in Chennai. BMW 520d is priced at INR 36,90,000.April 30, 2010 - BMW India has launched its awaited sixth generation BMW 5 Series model in the Indian auto market. The all new BMW 5 Series will be available in four variants 523i & 535i (both in petrol) and 525d & 530d (both in diesel). Both the diesel variants 525d & 530d and petrol variant 523i will be assembled at company's Chennai based manufacturing plant while the powerful 535i will be available as a CBU (Completely Built Unit).
